Cleveland 2026
Share
Cleveland Golf Club rounded off another superb day of links golf in the north-east, with tight fairways, classic coastal scenery, and an eagle on the closing hole that capped off a memorable round.
Course Highlights
Cleveland is a proper test. Sweeping sea views set the scene, but it's the tight fairways that really shape the day — there's no hiding place off the tee, and good ball-striking is rewarded every time. It's the kind of course that asks the right questions of every player, regardless of handicap, and the field rose to the challenge.
Weather Conditions
Cleveland gave the field a bit of everything. Sunny intervals had players reaching for the sun cream before heavy rain and high winds rolled in to remind everyone they were on the north-east coast. Classic links weather — the kind of day where adapting your game from hole to hole matters as much as the swing itself. Hats off to everyone who battled through it.
Memorable Moments
The shot of the day arrived right at the death. An eagle on the par-5 18th — what a way to finish a round. Walking off the final green with a 3 on the card is the kind of moment that stays with you, and it provided a brilliant flourish to round out the day's action.
Tournament Highlights
The 2s pot was a tight one this time around. Just a single 2 was made out on the course, meaning the lucky player walked away with the full £155 pot in voucher form. Not a bad reward for a well-struck tee shot.
Winners
Huge congratulations to Angela Scott and Phillip Scott, who took the top spot with a brilliant 44 points. A fantastic round in tricky conditions and a thoroughly deserved win — a real family affair at the top of the leaderboard.
In the runners-up spot were Dave Mawston and Andy Currie with 41 points — a strong performance on a course that gave nothing away easily.
On the Course
Plenty of action away from the main leaderboard too:
- Men's Longest Drive — James Osmond
- Ladies' Longest Drive — Wendy Pollitt
Well played to both for stepping up when it mattered.
A brilliant day's golf on a cracking course. Thanks to everyone who played, to Cleveland Golf Club for hosting us so well, and huge congratulations once again to Angela and Phillip. Onto the next one.
