Beau Desert 2026
Share
A course that feels like it's carved through wilderness rather than the Midlands, warm summer sunshine, a stunning 51-point winning score with both players individually on 40 points, a Ladies' Longest Drive winner picking up a second prize on the day, and a father-and-son runners-up finish — Beau Desert served up a properly memorable day of golf.
Course Highlights
Beau Desert Golf Club is a genuinely special place. What sets it apart is the feeling of isolation — despite being in the Midlands, many holes feel as though you're playing through wilderness, surrounded by trees and heathland, with very little sense of nearby development.
The club itself famously describes the occasional passing stag as one of the course's critics — and there aren't many venues where that kind of quote makes complete sense the moment you tee off. A course of real character and one that consistently earns its reputation.
Weather Conditions
A warm, sunny day at around 23°C. The afternoon stayed mostly sunny with relatively light winds — genuinely lovely conditions from tee to green, and the kind of day where the course was seen at its very best.
Memorable Moments
Best Dressed honours today went to a lovely group of ladies — Julie, Lesley, Helen, and Louise from Ferndown Golf Club. A properly turned-out team and a worthy nod. Great to have you all with us.
Tournament Highlights
The scoring headline came from an incredible 51-point round at the top of the leaderboard — and even more remarkably, both winners individually scored 40 points. Team golf at its absolute best, and a properly outstanding round on a course of Beau Desert's calibre.
The runners-up spot produced a really lovely storyline too — father-and-son duo Kieran and Robert Bruce teaming up brilliantly for a superb 48 points.
And Best Gross was a masterclass in low-handicap consistency — John Hunt and Keith Matthews carding a stunning -1 (69) including 4 birdies.
Winners
Huge congratulations to John Nolan and Kevin Pratt, who took the top spot with an outstanding 51 points — anchored by two brilliant individual scores of 40 each. Genuinely elite team golf.
In the runners-up spot were the father-and-son pairing of Kieran and Robert Bruce with a strong 48 points — a fantastic effort and a really special result for a father and son to share.
Best Gross honours went to John Hunt and Keith Matthews with a stunning -1 (69) — a proper display of controlled golf.
On the Course
Plenty of action away from the main leaderboard too. The 3rd hole was today's hole-in-one hole, with Nearest the Pin prizes also up for grabs on the 7th and 16th:
- Men's Longest Drive (14th) — Dan McCarthy (a proper effort — into the wind and uphill, then followed up with a birdie 3!)
- Ladies' Longest Drive — Georgia Jones
- Nearest the Pin (3rd) — Louis Ramsey
- Nearest the Pin (7th) — Georgia Jones
- Nearest the Pin (16th) — Ash Jarvis
Special mention to Georgia Jones, who picked up two prizes on the day — Ladies' Longest Drive and a Nearest the Pin. Genuinely stellar work with the driver and the irons in equal measure.
A brilliant day at a truly unique Midlands venue. Thanks to everyone who played, to Beau Desert Golf Club for hosting us so well, and huge congratulations once again to John and Kevin on a genuinely elite 51 points — and to Georgia for a properly outstanding individual day out on the course. Onto the next one.
