Playing the 2017 Scottish Open Host Venue in competition format has to be considered essential golfing for anyone living nearby.

It didn’t take long for the worldwide golfing community to sit up and take notice of this fine Ayrshire Links golf course, on a stretch of land shared with the famous Gailes clubs, and some think in a short time Dundonald surpassed the lot. Dundonald has some history. In the early 1900s, there was a golf course on the site of the current links, however, it was converted for military use during World War II and lay dormant until reopening in 2005. A perfect blend of modern and classic, the course is littered with pot bunkers and is set up strategically off the tee. Due to the wind and run on the fairways you’ll need all the clubs in your bag, that’s for sure!

£2000 worth of prizes on offer for participants with an official CONGU handicap.

Congu Handicap - Prizes will be given to a minimum of the top 5 pairs. Prizes include Mizuno Merchandise, vouchers for a Stewart Golf Trolley and future MGPT events. Golfshake Handicap - Prizes will be awarded to a minimum of first place. Prizes are dependant on how many pairs play with a Golfshake handicap. All Participants - All pairs, both with and without a handicap will compete in nearest the pin on every par 3, longest drive for men and ladies, and a Hole in 1 prize - A full pro custom fitting at the Mizuno factory in Scotland with a brand new full set of clubs to take home!
Everyone will also take home goodies from Mizuno worth £35 RRP. Format - Better Ball Pairs Stableford Competition played off 90% handicap.
Since Golfpairs is inclusive we do not have a handicap limit.
Handicaps of all placed prize winners are verified via central CDH system.

Our events are professionally hosted from the moment you hit the registration desk.

The leaderboard is live and viewable on your phone. Our partner, Mizuno will also be attending, offering attendees the chance to try out the latest Mizuno clubs. All bookers will be contacted approximately 4 weeks before a competition day via email, at this point we will request tee time preferences and your golfer information including handicaps and CDH numbers. 1-2 weeks before your event we will release tee times and the event information sheet both via email and linked in this page. We do offer the opportunity to pay small deposits to secure places at all Golf Pairs Competitions, balances are then due four weeks before the event starts. If you like what you've seen so far but still have more questions, we have an FAQ a bit further down the page and information on what to do if there is something you're still unsure about.

Concept is great and everyone was very friendly. Not my best round but really enjoyed the day as a whole. The event was really well ran and the free goody bag was a nice touch. My first golfpairs event But wont be my last.

Congrats on a well run and well organised day out. Really enjoyed the occasion, the weather, the course and loved the live scoring system. Such a great idea - despite not hitting the dizzy heights.

Common FAQs

  • All bookers are contacted approximately 4 weeks before an event via email, at this point we will request tee time preferences and golfer information.

  • Tee times are released 1-2 weeks before the competition. Once they are released we will notify you by email. If you wish to advise us of a tee time preference you must do this in the user registration form you are emailed ahead of the competition.

  • Better Ball Pairs Stableford Competition played off 90% handicap. This means each golfer plays their own ball, and the better score from the two on each hole counts towards the team’s total.

  • Yes you can join as a single golfer - just change the quantity to 1 when you book, we will then pair you up before we draw tee times. We have many single golfers participate in our competitions.

  • All are welcome to participate, handicap or not. To win the placed prizes, both you and your partner must have official CONGU handicaps. If you don't have official handicaps you have a choice to get Golfshake handicaps for free and participate in the Golfshake competition, or if you don't want to do that, participate just for fun. We verify handicaps of prize winners through our access to central handicap databases for the respective unions, where all CONGU handicaps are logged.

  • There is no handicap limit in any of our competitions since we are inclusive and rely on the integrity of the handicap system to ensure a fair competition.  The average handicap of our winners across the 2019 season was 8.5 - made up of a mix from a scratch winner (with a 3 handicapper) at Princes up to a 21 handicapper winning at Celtic Manor with a 10 handicapper

  • Each event has £2000 worth of prizes on offer for players with an official CONGU handicap, these prizes include Mizuno Merchandise, vouchers for a Stewart Golf Trolley and future MGPT events. prizes for placed pairs with a Golfshake will be dependent on how many Golf shake participants we get. Smaller prizes will be on offer for all pairs, both with and without a handicap in nearest the pin on every par 3 and longest drive for men and ladies. All participants will also attempt the designated hole in 1 hole. Should anyone sink it they'll win a full pro custom fitting at the Mizuno factory in Scotland with a brand new full set of clubs to take home! All participants will receive a goody bag consisting of a minimum of £35 RRP of Mizuno merchandise such as a towels, caps and balls.

  • Yes up to four weeks before a competition you can pay a deposit of £25 per person to secure your place. This can be done by going through the checkout as normal and on the final page selecting Bank Deposit. This will involve you contacting your bank either via online banking, telephone or branch and setting us up as a payee. • Yes of course, we are an inclusive tour who welcomes all participants. For safety purposes Juniors must have an official handicap and be accompanied by an adult.
Regarding Courtesy shots - We make all necessary adjustments based on the SSS of the course being played. So if a red tee has a higher SSS than a white tee those playing from red tees would have handicaps adjusted accordingly

  • It's not something we offer right now but it is something we are working with our clubs at potentially doing it in the future.

  • Yes you can. If you book as a group we will assume you wish to play together unless you tell us you wish to play consecutively. If you have booked separately you must tell us in the form sent to you 4 weeks before the competition who you wish to play with.
