West Wales Classic 2014
Our first foray into the golfing world was to run the West Wales classic in ran across Nefyn, Royal St Davids and Aberdovey. The event was blessed with 3 great days of sunshine coupled with some very good golf.
The courses are superb and all hold their own secrets and tests. The event did hold some surprises after the devastating storms only 3 months before. The peninsula at Nefyn in particular had suffered which led us to play 22 holes on the last day to incorporate what was left of it. The 3 day comp was won by the Shackell brothers just pipping Smith & Devine on the last few holes. Some other highlights included Dave “the ox” Hayman AND John Hatt from Troman’s Tigers playing off the path on the 18th at Aberdovey and Sam Devine of the Monkfish playing out of a badger holt at Nefyn. Memorably, Paul Heming and the Loudmouth boys turning up and making the town of Porthmadog extremely colourful all week!
Royal St David’s – 30/4/14
