Yes, to join Matchplay you and your partner will both need a formal CONGU handicap. Pairs do not need to be registered at the same golf club.

What is the format?

Better ball matchplay 90% handicap - all our competitions are run in line with CONGU guidance on mixed four-ball Matchplay.

Is there a handicap limit?

No there is not - we are inclusive and trust the handicap system. Where possible, we will always try and place similar handicaps together. Please take proof of handicap for your opponents to see if they wish.

"We won our first 2 matches comfortably and played a father and daughter due in the 3rd round and unfortunately were beaten. Could not of lost to nicer people, what a great idea this tournament was."

- Sanjay Palmer

"We received a bye on our first round and were drawn away for round 2. We played at a course around 10 miles away and opponents were a joy to play with. In the end we lost but we made some friends and playing partners for life. I wish them all the best for the rest of our tournament. "

- Greg McFowley

Plus Many More!

Is it a national competition or do we play locally?

All rounds will be drawn based on geographical proximity while avoiding matches between teams from your own club. On the odd occasion you may end up a bit further out as you progress through the rounds, but we do our best to keep people as local as possible.

How are matches arranged?

You will be drawn home or away for each round and the home team will be given contact information to arrange the match. If the home team does not reach out or the deadline is not met the away team will progress unless evidence of attempted contact is given.

What happens if Matchplay 2020 is cancelled?

Matchplay will NOT be cancelled.
If golf clubs are forced to close for short periods, we will simply move or shorten the rounds slightly to accommodate for this. Matchplay 2020 will go ahead

What happens after I enter?

When you receive your order confirmation your spot is guaranteed! You will be sent a form to complete once registration for the event closes on April 24th. The draw will then be made before May 2nd, which will then be sent out to all participants as well as all other relevant information.
