Trentham 2025

What an amazing day at Trentham Golf Club! We wrapped up another fantastic Golf Pairs event, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. From the moment the first groups teed off until the final putt on the 18th, it was clear that the competition was fierce, the camaraderie was top-notch, and the memories were unforgettable.

The course was in pristine condition, as always at Trentham Golf Club. The greenkeepers worked their magic again, providing inviting pin positions on most holes, though a few “stinker” pins kept everyone on their toes. It was the perfect balance of challenging and rewarding, making sure every pair had to bring their A-game to the course.

The weather, however, was the true test of resilience. A brutal start to the day with rain and breezes made it feel like it was only 2°C for the early starters. But as if by magic, the rain finally gave way around 1pm, and the big yellow thing in the sky made a brief appearance. For a few glorious hours, the late starters soaked up the sunshine, basking in their shorts and t-shirts. But, of course, in true British April fashion, the heavens opened up once more and left the final groups absolutely soaked to their bones—a fitting end to a typical spring day!

Tournament Highlights:

The competition was intense, but there were a few pairs that truly stood out:

  • Winning Pair: 🏆 Dale Tilier & Charlie Gould took home the top spot with an incredible 48 points. After a 19-point front nine, they stormed back with a possible record-breaking 29 points on the back nine, including 6 gross birdies. What a performance from the 10 and 3 handicappers!

  • Runner-Up: A great effort from Tim Alexander & Paul Need, finishing just 1 point behind with 47 points. They gave it their all and put up a great fight!

  • Nearest the Pin 🎯: Ben Wellings showed pinpoint accuracy on the 4th hole, landing his shot just several inches from the pin—what a beauty of a shot!

  • Longest Drive 🚀: Robbie Turner crushed a monster drive on the 18th hole, leaving just 175 yards into the par 5. This set him up perfectly for an approach shot. On the women’s side, Marie Withers claimed the Ladies Longest Drive with a corker that split the fairway, only to find a massive divot! Worst rule in golf? You decide!

We couldn’t have asked for a better venue than Trentham Golf Club. The course’s reputation is well-deserved, with its inviting fairways, perfectly rolled greens, and challenging holes making it an ideal setting for this event. And let’s not forget the incredible bacon sandwiches we enjoyed for breakfast—soft buns and 3 slices of chunky bacon were just the start of what made the day special!

The approach shot to the 18th green, with the historic clubhouse in the background, was a stunning way to finish the round and capped off what was truly a memorable golfing experience.

A massive thank you to Trentham Golf Club and their fantastic staff for their hospitality and seamless organization. They ensured everything ran smoothly from start to finish, making sure that the event was both enjoyable and memorable for all the players involved.
