The Welcome 2025
The Welcome Golf Club Recap: A Day of Golfing Excellence at The Welcombe
A Fantastic Day on the Course
What a day it has been at The Welcombe as we wrapped up another incredible Golf Pairs event! From the moment our first groups teed off to the final putt on the 18th, we saw some truly outstanding golf, great camaraderie, and plenty of memorable moments.
The Welcombe provided a brilliant test of skill, with it’s firm fairways, getting distance off the tee was not an issue, however trying to hold the greens required some quality ball striking and the ball landing like a butterfly with sore feet. The weather was deceptively brisk for most of the day, with a stiff breeze adding an extra layer of challenge (or perhaps a touch of luck for some!).
Tournament Highlights
- Winning Pair: Congratulations to Mark Paxton & David Paxton who took home the top spot with an impressive 42pts, with both players contributing when needed!
- Runner-Up: A great effort from Daniel Roberts and Ross Roberts who finished also with 42pts but lost out on count back.
- Nearest the Pin: Matt Barnes won the nearest the pin, with what we belove to be the farthest away winning shot of around 25 foot from the pin on the 6th hole. Rumour has it only one person hit the green all day!
- Longest Drive: Mark Paxton smashed a monster drive on hole 16, setting themselves up for a shot at the par 5 in 2!
- Longest Drive: - Jane Martin won the ladies longest drive, with a beauty striped right down the middle of the fairway. This was always going to be contender!
The Course & The Atmosphere
We couldn’t have asked for a better venue than The Welcombe with it’s fantastic practice facilities which were well utilised by the players before their round today.
A huge thank you to The Welcombe and their staff for their hospitality and seamless organisation, making sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish.
