Oxfordshire Spring 2025

Oxford Spring Pairs Event Recap – A Perfect Day at The Oxfordshire

What a fantastic day we had at The Oxfordshire for our Spring Pairs Event, where golfers enjoyed glorious blue skies and a full field of competitors. The weather was perfect, with clear skies greeting us from the start, but as is often the case on this exposed course, the wind was up, adding an extra challenge to an already fantastic layout.

The day kicked off at 8:00 AM with the first groups setting out, and the last tee time at 3:40 PM. As always, the halfway house between holes 6 and 13 provided a warm welcome and hopefully plenty of the famous sausage rolls for all our hungry golfers. If you’ve played here before, you’ll know just how much everyone looks forward to those!

Tournament Highlights:

  • Nearest the Pin:
The 5th hole saw some fantastic approach shots, but it was Paul Murray who took home the Nearest the Pinprize.

  • Longest Drive:
The 10th hole, a tough par 4 with a dogleg around the main lake, provided a challenge for all the golfers, especially with the wind blowing in from all directions. Michelle Young won the Ladies’ Longest Drive and Sam Lewisclaimed the Men’s Longest Drive. Sam’s impressive tee shot managed to hold up all day, starting from his 8:40 AM tee time and remaining the longest until the very end of the event.

  • Hole-in-One Challenge:
Our Hole-in-One Challenge was set on the 13th hole, a daunting shot over water. Steve, who was running the challenge, made sure the front pin and downwind conditions helped make the hole slightly less intimidating. At just under 150 yards, the challenge was set—but with that water lurking, it still provided plenty of drama!

Looking Ahead:

It was an excellent day full of friendly competition, great shots, and memorable moments. Our next event will be tomorrow, 8th May, at The Welcombe in Warwickshire. We’re looking forward to another fantastic day of golf with more great players and more amazing moments on the course!
